This Is Where We Started

Santiam started in a garage in the early ’90s and moved to Stayton in 1998. It’s been here ever since. The owners set up the family home on the same lot as the office in 2005. They lived and worked on the same property until 2022. They still live half a mile down the road. The Santiam River is a quarter mile from the front door. We’ve never been anywhere else.

A lot of the crew came up right here. Some went to Stayton High School. When the high school built a memorial gym for a student the community lost, Santiam did the installation. Some came through the apprenticeship program at Chemeketa, where we have two board members and our sheet metal manager teaches fourth-year apprentices. We hire local because we are local.

When a crew member lost their home in the 2020 fires, the team came together. That’s how this company works. Not because it’s policy. Because that’s who these people are.
