The Scope
Commercial HVAC and odor control installation for the Forest Grove Primary Treatment Project, a $50 million water infrastructure. The project added two new 100′ clarifiers, a flow control structure, lime silo, alum building, and biofilter to the facility. Our crew handled the mechanical work tied to two new digesters and new electrical rooms, including:
- Two foul air fans cut into the existing facility for odor control
- Odor control systems handling corrosive, high-toxicity chemicals
- AC and exhaust fan installation
- 46″ fiberglass ductwork, fabricated with epoxy resin sheet joints built up to hold a tight seal under demanding conditions
The Challenge
This job required close coordination with the electrical trade on motor control center panels tied to building management systems — control board monitoring, high-heat alarms, and fan switch controls all had to be mounted, wired, and commissioned to work together. The site stayed busy throughout, with multiple trades stacked during the project’s peak period, so sequencing and communication with the GC’s schedule were critical. Precise grading and layout work — shooting grade and laser lines to get the correct drop on duct runs — was essential to getting the ductwork installed correctly the first time.
The Result
Santiam’s installation and service teams hit every GC timeline milestone despite the compressed schedule, and every system performed as designed at startup. The work supports long-term water infrastructure for the Forest Grove community.
